I agree that the attempt at humor fails. But, I believe that his apology, her acceptance, and his calling for an ethics investigation on HIMSELF is indicative of the man's overall character. We don't have any context from the incident, but we can ascertain if it's an outlier.

For the first time in my adult life that I'll disagree with my hero; the great Stephen Colbert. Al was contrite, elegant and sincere in his apology over a nothing burger

If every guy who played a sexist frat boy prank or was guilty of a sloppy pass had to resign the world would already be run by women.

A LOT harsh compared 2 Colbert’s passing comment on Louis C.K. who masturbated in front of unwilling women. I am used 2 Colbert being more even handed... very disappointing!

I don't know about that, as long as nothing else surfaces giving another picture I'm pretty sure he is really embarrassed and ashamed of this and as well as abut the high school juvenal behavioral with the photo.

Bad behavior or assault? @nytimes is using @StephenAtHome comments 2add weight to story. Author listed stories she wrote abt #clinton as proof she was right about him too. Not proof #alfranken assaulted. Photos do not have a voice. @SenFranken @senategop

Yup. I risk sounding like the trump excuse-ers, but damn this is a shake down. Her "testimony" cld be taken apart by a jr attorney or language expert. Focused on his spit rather than supposed assault. She's humiliating him, & it doesn't seem retaliatory. She was not offended.
