Yes. My Mom, now 94, in Tampa Bay FL, was groped by her uncle while he was teaching her to swim. Mom LOVES the water and fishing...yet she never learned to swim after that. 😢 #MeToo

Everyone should be talking to young people about this...but unfortunately sometimes the rapist is the parent/uncle, aunt/ grandparent. #outyourfamily #livefree #MeToo

My grandma is long dead, but told me about a boss that tried to grope her while she took shorthand and she stabbed him with her pencil! 😆

This happened in the 1930s. He never bothered her again, nor did any other man. She def had a "Don't fuck with me" sign on her!

Tried talking to mom about #metoo and she can’t understand why so many people are just now coming forward years later. Being a victim of Me Too myself, I tried to explain to her that it’s not an easy thing to talk about. She rolled her eyes and said whatever.

So now my mom still has no idea that it happened to #metoo. And I know she never will. It’s something that is hard to have sympathy for if it hasn’t happened to you. Most people who don’t understand believe it was deserved. “Well don’t dress that way or don’t drink that much”

My folks are long gone, but I’ve been thinking about a story my mom told about being chased around the desk by a former boss. Seemed like a scene from an old comedy when she told me. But she must have been scared. Now I know.

It was brought up to my family, devastating them, ruining them and the rest of their lives, they could not longer talk to, respect or endure each other without pain. That is one possible event when we open up -do not wonder why we didn't speak up, wonder how this can never happen

My mother was very beautiful, very young, & a waitress. My grandma told me men relentlessly flirted w/& groped her & my jealous father blamed her for it & would hit her. She died at age 19 when I was a baby in a car wreck. I WISH I could talk to her about our #Metoo experiences.

Surprisingly, yes. I found out that my aunt was a victim of sexual abuse as a child (age 9 or so) from my mother.

My grandmother lived through two world wars, in an age when rape and unwanted pregnancy brought social ruin and the hell of back-street abortion. I think modern women will find that their stories pale by comparison.
