Might such a situation possibly have been fostered by getting on TV every night and lampooning the views of 45-55% of the populace? The shift in late-night comedy that Mr. Stewart exemplified was a negative.

The arrogance of this guy. He spent years mocking and rediculing half of America, and now he has the audacity to lament how the media have divided the country almost beyond repair?

You're posting this? Does #metoo mean nothing to The New York Times? This person supported and helped cover up sexual assault. All he should be asked is how he could possibly forgive himself

.@nytimes Whether right or wrong, Jon Stewart lives by his heart/consciousness. Stephen Colbert is the opposite: a fake "comedian" (never did standup), a "journalist" (!) = smug corporate tool/hired hand.
