No longer science fiction? The Uru people have been living in floating cities on Lake Titicaca for centuries.

What about safety if it’s floating out there in international waters? Will they be prone to pirate raids?

Come on! @nytimes the concept of floating city is not new. Haven’t they ever heard of Venice Italy, Mekong floating village and market, or of Makoko slums on Nigeria, Lagos lagoon?

If floating city bcomes a reality only the richest few will live there, particularly BCOZ cities are being invaded by poor INTERNAL immigrants. Besides the researches in California, Netherland, being a lowlying country already started living in houses on sea connected by a bridge

Floating cities visualized at California's research institute may have to face tidal ways which might have been taken care of. Probably that part of the sea is always calm. It seems LIVING UNDER SEA AT LOW DEPTH MIGHT BE LESS PROBLEMATIC
