The doctors have sworn in Hippocrates, so they can not cheat behind a motivation of objection of conscience! It is pure cowardice and should no longer practice the profession !!! They must be deleted from the record of the medical profession !!!

Personally, I could never abort, but think of a thousand other issues, women who for a variety of reasons, reluctantly have to do it! The law is more than 40 years old and is a sacrosanct RIGHT !!!

Here in Brazil, the Federal Deputies Committee approve a proposed Constitutional Amendment to make any abortion illegal! Shame!

Wow, that's great news! Human rights need to be respected. Both women and children. It's time to invest more in research on how to help both women and babies when it comes to unwanted pregnancies.

Since the year 1940 abortion is legal in cases of rape. So we consider this proposal a setback, including in the Human Rights aspect.

Set back? Nooo, it's progress, especially for human rights. The countries that are accepting abortion without thinking of the consequences are already moving into eugenics and as a deaf person, that's scary as shit to me. Thanks for the info.

Is abortion a daily problem in Italia, a country with an increasingly old population? I don't think so. Just try to impose your ideas at your territory, let us italiani solve our problems.

Yes a tragedy, Doctors who respect the oath they took not to do harm. Needn't worry @nytimes, there are enough butchers in Italy and around the world who think nothing of ending an innocent, defenseless life.

The absolute number of non-objectors has not changed significantly since 1983 (from 1607 to 1408, a 12% drop) while the number of abortions went down from 233,976 to 87,639 (- 62.5%). The workload has constantly decreased. More here:http://www.ionainstitute.ie/abortion-rights-activist-target-conscientious-objection-with-false-information/ …

That is but one definition, one rooted in naturalism and certainly devoid of any understanding that we are created by God. So much of what one can say about a culture is determined by how it treats the defenseless. You reflect an empty, soulless culture.
