Perhaps because someone removed his heart and put it in a pickle jar?

Jesus. Every time I want to wax poetic about how awful life is in the modern age, I'll remember that no one will have to pickle my heart in a jar for 170 years to figure out how future me dies.

Lol, yuck! I used to help remove them. On camera the stones look like gold nuggets, unless they are green😝

My Dad's (which sit in their own jar next to mine) are vast golden nuggets, mine look like large golden pollen- but are tiny. I have been told never to open the jar because of the smell.

My stones are dry! My gallbladder... well I should have sold it to the surgeon as he asked. I was young, impressionable- didn't want to lose parts of myself...

He wanted his heart removed; was afraid of being buried alive. He died of complications of tuberculosis. He was also an epileptic. Ah, and a genius.

It was common for centuries after the Ancient Egyptians for people- including Christians- to have their viscera buried separately from their bodies. Separate heart burials were particularly common- the French Royal family & Robert the Bruce are famous examples.
