The 3-year-old had a severe allergy to dairy that his family says his pre-K knew about, yet he was given grilled cheesehttp://nyti.ms/2AxaVbO

A kid like that should never been enrolled in a regular school where he would exposed to the things he was allergic to. I will say is negligence on the part of the parents.

Kids with allergies and special circumstances shouldn't be exiled from other children. How about we, as a civilized society, require adults who work in these kinds of environments to be better at the jobs they're paid to do?

I can't say that all cases of allergies should be ostracized. Far from it. But when a case is severe, parents shouldn't take chances.

I could see if you were "The Boy in the Bubble" or something, but peanut allergies, dairy, grass, animals, etc., are pretty easy to deal with for the most part..

Nope. It was just an allergic reaction to cheese. No Epi-Pens in the classrooms? When I saw pre-k & 3 yr old, I thought that was strange. He wasn't actually in that pre-k class, but a pre-k teacher gave him the food.

We have find out if the teacher had fore knowledge of the kid's allergies though.

This is heart breaking. my 2 boys are also anaphylatic to dairy, the bigger issue is that people only see nuts as a danger. Dairy kills also! we need people to know dairy is just like nuts. ALL ALLERGIES CAN KILL. END THE NUT FOCUS

No it's not, your right. I was trying to point out that most humans can't digest milk and that it really is not good for us. This tragic episode is due to people being fooled that dairy is ok, and thus breeds attitudes like 'its only a bit of cheese, it won't hurt him'.

Terrible an senseless. However, many teachers have tunnel vision. They dont pay attention. All they think about is how fast can they get through the damn day an go home. Not right at all. #ElijahSilvera #prayersup to the family.
