As someone who’s paid $24,000 over 15 years on a $20,000 loan but the balance remains at $19,000, I can relate. Student loans are scams.

Borrowed $26k, paid $63k (on time, 15 years) before absorbing into an equity loan and paying off in 5. Criminal. Predatory. Common.

After 6 yrs of payments btw $500-800/month, I was just informed of the same thing. So 10 more years of payments starts this month.

My sister too. She paid 380 for over 20 years, last 9 supposedly on the forgiveness plan. Nope. Now has 9 more years to go. Shameful.
