        when I worked in surgery, I used to wonder this myself. Drs get caught up in fixing them when recovery looks damn near impossible.

        My friend's mom was diagnosed with spinal stenosis in her 70's. She wanted the surgery bc of the pain. Docs said no bc she was so frail.
