lovely! some families can’t afford to pay the fees and frankly, the library is where EVERY child should go, often!

Idk I checked out 7+ books/wk from the lib from ages 10 to 14 I was bound to lose 1 or 2. I was a child, still learning abt responsibility🤷

Same here, absolutely love books, and when I inevitably forgot to turn them in, my parents had me do extra chores to pay for them, hence the teaching children personal responsibility

Ok, & for the families that cant afford those fees, having the kids do chores isn't going to help. Libraries aren't meant to be a privilege

Actually they are, your library card is a fucking privilege, if you abuse said privilege there is usually a consequence, hence the fee.

I disagree. I believe libs should not be only for those that can afford it. I want libs that enrich our communities, especially young minds

Even if those minds are still learning abt responsibility. Even if their parents can't afford the fee. Which many families can't do.
