A draft dodger and a deserter walk into a bar. One goes to prison and the other cheats his way into a presidency.

I do. I care a lot. I'm sure if you were the parent of Bergdahl, you'd want him back. We don't lv anyone behind. He's paying now.

It seems people like to think the legal definition of desertion is synonymous with treason.

Right. I feel if he had been screened properly when he signed up to serve, perhaps he would't have been sent to a stressful combat area.

If I remember correctly he was properly screened and deemed unfit, but received a waiver because the military needed people for the war.

Which was a mistake. Even when on duty they could have changed his detail.

A healthy mind needs a regular sleep schedule-the waiver should have had qualifiers to avoid swing shifts. Certainly his superiors saw risk

Well the fact is, he should have never been in the army. The army knew he shouldn’t have, but they needed to meet their quotas.

For a combat zone, I'm sure the 'expendable' factor plays into waivers. I don't think many signing up know what they are getting into.
