Common sense. Eye contact, a quick smile, and a little patience!

How about they serve me my fucking drink like they were hired to do. And in return I'll tip them and get on with my day.

Seriously? Fine, it's common sense not to overcomplicate it. But if your bar has mojitos for $18, I shouldn't order them on Sat night?pic.twitter.com/Ck1Cjb5gmD

After paying for & receiving drink, keep your money off the bar or bartender will walk by & grab it as if you meant to tip him. Seriously.

And if you come out of the woods saying anything... nobody likes that.

Nice to see The New York Times handling real issues of the day: how to get bartender’s attention. First-world problems.

Waving $20 bills is tacky, bars / bartenders where it takes 1 hour for ordering are bad business.

Never understand why they just don't make a place that you can form a line
-
I’ve been to a couple Portland, OR bars that do the lines. It’s great. I’m not sure it’s faster, but the bartenders said they like it.

At least you know where you stand (pun possibly intended)

If you have to wave a $20 and even ask politely to get service, you walked into the wrong establishment! Leave, and go where you are valued
-
or just save some
and not pay $10 for a
. get some at the store and go home.
