All credit reporting agencies are now compromised and should be closed.

Any financial institutions doing secondary market lending are required to report to all 4: Equifax, Trans Union, Experian & Innovis.

However, knowingly providing personal information to a compromised 3rd party could make them liable as well.

That's immaterial now. Financials are required & will continue to report. Otherwise, information will soon be inaccurate.

Totally agree: Look into security freezes to prevent new lines of credit from opening. Fraud alerts are after a problem, not before.
