The story says they went to the apartment to do a well person check, and he was obviously unwell, so they shot him after a few minutes.

Do those police officers get no training in how to deal with the mentally ill? They should be charged with murder.

What should they do when a man repeatedly ignores orders then pulls what appears to be a gun from behind his back?

They should be trained in negotiation and trained to disarm. They already tasered him, why did they need to shoot?

So much Monday morning quarterbacking Did you read where they attempted multiple times to negotiate with him? Right up until he pulled a gun

I did; perhaps the word I mean isn't negotiating. I mean training to de-escalate through dialogue, particularly w/ potential mental illness

And I repeat, they tasered him; should be sufficient to disarm? Why did they then need to shoot? If tasering is insufficient why is it used?

There will be a riot no matter how justified the shooting was. That's Obama's legacy.

A wellness check is making certain the person is well then leaving not shooting them. Retreating is always a better option than murder.

Retreat? In a small apartment when someone has a gun? Sometimes the shooting is justified. Cops have a right to go home to their families.

You know how large the apartment was or where the points of egress were? Diffusing a situation sometimes requires retreating not advancing.

you know nothing about law enforcement. Lets say they retreat and he goes on to shoot 4 residents in the building? Then what?
