Paint it. Does the color matter? I'm pretty sure Jesus was brown but everything shows him white but in purpose.

They didn't paint it though. Read the article. They cleaned the 800+ oil residue off of walls, ceilings, stained glass, and the statue.

Yes I know. I just don't see the difference in the color of a statue other than housekeeping was delinquent at this church.

Read the article. 800 years of oil burning lamps and candles caused a dark coating on the statue, ceilings, the walls. They just cleaned it

For the record, The Black Madonna looked better pre-restoration.

Not everything needs to be "restored." They cleaned off people's prayers. It's a part of beauty and sacredness. Grumble.

The real Virgin Mary was not white or black. She was Semetic which includes native ppl from the Middle East & Arabian Peninsula.

However, according to federal guidelines ppl from the Middle East & North Africa are considered white. I know. It makes no sense.

The Black Madonna is one of the most famous appearances of the Blessed Mother in Church history. It shows Mary is the Mother of ALL races
