Frigid winters in the Northeast U.S. used to kill off these tree-eating beetles. Now, winters aren't cold enough.http://nyti.ms/2xs8E04

I like trees. Especially sugar maples. If an invasive beetle messes with my pancakes, I will not be a happy camper.

Out West, beetles have been working their way North into B.C. By the way, kudzu is growing further North back East, for same reason.

Time to start eating beetles. Their larvae are very rich in protein and quite versatile.

Have the beetles changed? Or the weather? Weather doesn’t evolve.

Well the fact the beetles won't die will effect some other species and that will lead to a shift. Evolution.

Evolution is genetically different creatures surviving due to those genetic changes being more ‘fit’ for the environment. (fit= appropriate)

So if the beetle population increases, what they feed on decreases except the fittest of those species (due to color, smell, etc) =evolution

So you may or may not then get evolution happening over a few hundred generations.

And that evolutionary shift will likely result in some unexpected outcomes. More or fewer beetles. Maybe another predator…
