Because the MSM is fueling the insane pace of destroying American history so they can pretend it never happened. Dems are just as guilty.

When Alabama governor removed confederate flag at capital a couple of years ago it made news for about a day. Few people here cared.

Conversation about the legitimacy of many public monuments is long overdue. Those that don't represent freedom & justice for all need to go!

And where do we draw the line? Will it be the history books next? And who are the deciders. Your comment is very shallow

Oh, the sound of cognitive dissonance. I hope the history books are next; most of them are full of lies.

It's how a nation wears its scars that makes it a great country. Removing statues does nothing but water down history.

History is written in books, not statues.

When was the last time you walked down a street in a new city and a book reminded you of the past.

Removing statues does not remove history, but does remove reminder of painful past. Many statues erected in 1950's and 60's for that reason.

The USA was founded on slavery. Ugly as it might be, without that atrocious system this country would not exist. You can't white wash it.

We also don't need to honor the ugliness either. White supremacists put many statues up during period of their resurgence in 50's and 60's.

Prove it. Let's get a list of the confed statues, figure out who commissioned them and why. Remove the ones that we commissioned by bigots

Google "when were confederate statues erected". Many articles to read. If you were black, you might feel differently about these reminders.
