Why do we keep conflating "Southern" w White Nationalism? I live in Memphis which is majority African Am. The culture isn't monolithic.

The "Southern Identity" label absolves large swaths of the country for its own complicity in racists attitudes and policies.

There are lots of southerners who abhor this type of mentality. They are not the loudmouths.

But they should be. Silence is a statement. I'm not willing to make that statement. My 1st KKK protest was 1980. Still in the streets today.

It's like the good cops that don't speak out. A lot of courage and risk in an armed society. I always admire ppl like u who speak out.

Actually, it's Liberals and the media's attempts to systematically mischaracterize mainstream Southerners that's been the revelation.

It's NOT Southern identity! It's an upside down world when a southerner like me has to condemn a racist Yankee president. See @traecrowder
