Isn't "fat" subjective? And might one not offend by presuming someone else considers themselves fat, and wishes to be referred to as such?

Yes, it's best not to describe anyone's body! Ever! But if you and I are discussing that aspect, best also not to use uninformed euphemism.
-
Good points, and thank you for the reply. I found your recent NYT column fascinating and moving.
-
Thanks. I really appreciate that!

I would never call myself fat, including to myself. I never insult myself.
-
Maybe listen to the episode? Or read the Times story. Many people don't think fat is an insult.
-
I did listen. To me it's an insult cause people have been using it to hurt me for 40 years. Btw, I strongly support the pro-fat movement.
-
If I'm uncomfortable with the word fat it's not because of your body it's because of me and my life experiences. Anyway, I admire you! Thnx!
-
Ah. I admire you, too.

Confused why a journalist guest is an authority on science and the body. Caloric deficit diets work - all the time. Psychology may impede.
