I keep seeing Former soldiers come out and say how them being trans didn't disrupt. How many of them were known trans while in?
-
So of course there wasn't a disruption. No one had to deal with your surgeries or medical issues. They were just soldiers at this point.
-
Inviting young adults to your organization knowing there will be lost time managing health issues doesn't seem like a good idea.
-
Training alone can take over a year… add transition time and the first enlistment is already half over.

For disabled vets, I totally get it. But don't complain about the healthcare costs for trans people, when their care costs only $8.000.000.

A point you are also missing is that erectile dysfunction is not a pre-service condition and cost per person is really minor.
-
Yeah, but combined it's about 10x as much as the cost for transgenders. And in this case, the bottomline is most important.
-
Cost per person isn't important, as there aren't relatively many trans people in the military as cishet.

@Caitlyn_Jenner would have been a much much better choice for this column.#failingNYTimes -
When was Caitlyn in the military
-
She wasn't but she honored the USA as an Olympic gold-medalist and is a very prominent personality in the trans community.

Wow. Manning's opinions have the least credibility with me. I would read an opinion by almost anyone else on the trans community.
