Girls grow up to be ballerinas. Boys are mathematicians. Enough, a British advertising regulator says.http://nyti.ms/2uHpgTy

And the arts continue to be looked down upon because complainants obviously think being a ballerina is not as important as a mathematician

I wouldn't say that's the view. It's more that women are portrayed aspiring to beauty and grace and men to intelligence. Balance is needed.

Maybe people's perceptions of intelligence should also be shifting. Doing what you love and not what your parents want is intelligent.

I completely agree. I'm not against the arts. I'm an actor and singer. Just saying standard depictions need to be adjusted/clarified.

Being part of a ballet company is an amazing achievement. Math is very difficult to be proficient in as well. Good choices for any sex.

You're a woman. Are you implying you can't drive well, and you're roles are cleaning, cooking, birthing? Stereotypes are born of ignorance.

There's systematic sexism in education. Most kindergarten teachers are women, most university professors are men. Knowing WHY is important.
