Heartbreaking. I applaud his ex wife for bringing this to light, I don't image it was easy. Blessing and peace for his family and children.

@MustbeMoore@KimberlyDeLine interesting read. -
Depressing read, but one we need to remember
-
Eye opener, not bc we are not aware it exists but a reminder that it is more common than we realize.

Law firm culture breeds these scenarios. "Make sure to take vacation; but also make sure to bill 3000 hours this year."

Well-written article about addiction, the problems it creates and the way it disrespects all boundaries of privilege or poverty. Well done.

Please stop using the buzzy term 'addict' in headlines. You're better than that. Person with substance use disorder.
-
He is a drug addict. Stop whitewashing it. When POC are called abusers, I'm sure you don't try to correct the terminology used.
-
Agreed. Stigmatizing language disproportionately used re: POC. Also less likely to have a humanizing piece written re: their substance use.

Meh. Personal choices. Own them. Why do you people keep insisting on eulogizing irresponsibility?

Feel badly for his wife & family, sure, but come on, he literally did it to himself. Once upon a time, strength of character was expected.

OK Eilene..lets address a national epidemic by starting w/ the rich lawyers first...
-
As
@partisandaily eloquently notes below, addiction affects people across all socioeconomic boundaries. Also, this shines some light on 1/2 -
addiction problem in legal & medical field, where a "functional" addict may be your surgeon or attorney. All deserve compassion and help.
-
When POC were the ones affected, you people didn't care.. Now it's a big deal. Typical.
-
I did & do care. Society has sought to punish - not help - POC at every turn (mandatory minimums, sentencing guidelines that carry the 1/x
-
same sentence for possessing ONE gram of crack cocaine as ONE HUNDRED grams of powder cocaine... and you have to search out information 2/x
-
I agree. It's a travesty.
