HER APPEARANCE IS NOT RELEVANT TO INTERNATIONAL POLITICS
-
-
-
It's one of those things you tell people when you see them if you see fit. Hi, you look nice today. Etc. Not relevant but nice thing to say
-
It's something you tell a friend of 10 years who usually wears jeans and today is wearing a dress. Not the wife of the President of France.
-
Exactly. If someone at my HS reunion said it- I'd be like Thanks! If my husband's business associate did it? Karate punch!

He was eyeing her up like he was judging a 2nd hand car and was pleasantly surprised! So he turned to the salesman and said so!
-
Stop materializing your own insecurities onto this situation. If it bothers her she can say so. She doesn't need you. What he did was nice.
-
A large part of being gracious or diplomatic is what you don't say. Her silence said more than his words.
-
And you know her that well do you? Is she okay with you speaking for her? Isn't that what feminists are against?

-
So, you're saying you have qualifications to tell her how she should have reacted?
-
I think she reacted just fine on her own. She hasn't made a peep about it bothering her so she's made her own decision. If it changes, fine.
-
I think you should go sit down
-
I appreciate the advice but no thanks. That's not how this works.

Gotta agree with d reader. I don't like Trump but complimenting looks is just what it is - a compliment. People need to focus on key issues
-
it's not his place OR time to compliment her LOOKS or APPEARANCE. When you meet for business you say PLEASED TO MEET YOU
-
Especially in France
-
Yes, people in the US are very casual. Sometimes too casual. French people are formal. Especially with people they don't know well
-
"Casual?" That was "casual." Unsolicited assessment of a woman's body is just gross.
-
Too many young women today mistakenly accept such comments as acceptable. Some have no idea how sexist and disrespectful it is to them.
-
It's because girls are taught by society that looks take precedence over ability or intellect regardless of setting
