Seriously people have been talking about this for years, just let them keep on chanting it and stop writing articles about it.

So nyt writes an article about an "offensive" word but not the banana throwing or monkey sounds that happen in European games .

-
An entire stadium shouting a derogatory term repeatedly is very different from a couple idiots in the stands throwing bananas/making sounds.
-
Nope it's pretty common in Europe to yell obscenities at black players but hey one word is so much worse right?http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=130886&page=1 …
-
"Pretty common" seems a bit loose. Given that the article shows a couple examples when there are countless games played free of racism.

It seems odd to me that we criticize the president for being thin skinned and promote a culture that will create more thin skinned people.

The Mexican fans have a history of offensive behavior. They have thrown garbage at opposing teams. And they will not SHUT UP.
-
And European fans throw bananas and make monkey noises at black players .
-
Not the way Mexican fans keep jeering and singing even when a player is hurt. Even other Latin countries dislike the Mexican fans.
-
And one of the countries with the worst reputation for the way their fans behave is Mexico. You may not like that fact but it is a fact.
