Maybe if the building was up to code, all lives would have been saved. But yeah, let's focus on short ladders..

Seriously-a good sprinkler system would have made a world of difference.

There is no ladder than can reach the upper floors . . . . . . not just in this situation.

Ladders are never that long anywhere. They need safe escape routes.

So sad and criminal that no one cared enough to have in place ladders long enough to save all the tenants..

You invent them that go up 26 + floors safely that can be driven on UK roads, you'll be heralded a genius and saviour! You need a crane!

in this case there should have been a contingency plan to evacuate all tenants.. and the way it unfolded ot seems there was none

Issue with evacuation systems is you need to train people. The largest cruise ships have the same issue. But tower blocks don't have staff.

In case of Fire in tall buildings like Grenfell, helicopters & fire planes should have arrived unless they focused just on lower floors.

Expected; unexpected was the lack of built in protection required for buildings over 75'. Aerial ladders are usually 100'.

Or fire sprinklers throughout the building, but make a headline that blames ladders that don't exist and changes attention from what works.

At least they didn't have those damn government regulations forbidding the use of flammable panels in a high building
