        Many don't know they weren't citizens, some were adopted by ppl who didn't wanna pay to file for them to get status

        Understood. Should be part of adoption agreement so this doesn't happen. Not child's fault. As an adult however it's no longer on parents

        Fact of the matter is most ppl have no reason to believe their parents are lying or incorrect when they are told their citizenship status

        the adopted adults generally just assume they are citizens, and will never have a reason to believe otherwise unless they need a passport

        int'l adoptees are issued SSNs and US (english lang) birth certificates at the time of adoption so they have no reason to dig any further

        I've never heard, here in Italy that adopted children can be "deported", if the international adoption fails they stay in Italy.
