The case started in 2012, when the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado refused to create a cake for the wedding of a gay couple

I'm just gonna say, as a business. You have the right to refuse service to anyone.
-
but you don't have a right to then post their home address and phone # publicly so your friends can harass them.
-
Right, but everyone on this post seems to think it is illegal to refuse service to someone. They don't know the real reason it's at the SC
-
don't get me wrong, I was on the side of the Baker at first (even as a lesbian) But the couple didn't even decide
-
To sue until after the doxing and harassment. To me that's what crossed the line between simply refusing service and being an asshole.

it is the bakers own freedom as well to say yes or no
-
Not really. If u replace "gay" with "black" you can easily see it's discriminatory.
-
as long as he doesn't offend them it is called freedom
-
Discrimination IS offensive. And that's not how the law works. We need to come together. It's just a cake.
-
It's a business, run with his funds. Do not bring 'black' into it. Blacks have faced this for decades without running to the courts
-
Sorry Lady. It's a business run under an equal American gov't. Discrimination is discrimination. Your opinion does not equal fact.
-
By this logic, you are revoking religious freedom, and the right to own a business for many Christians, Muslims, Mormons, etc. Un-American.
-
And the American thing to do is recognize and respect each other as humans. Jesus ate with sinners. Let them have cake.

Let's just call this what it is... Religious Freedom vs Human Rights One is chosen (religion) The other you're born with.
-
Ah yes, the human right to force someone else to make a wedding cake for you.
-
The human right, to be treated equally, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ect...
-
Right, that's why it's illegal to only have white friends or to only date women. The government should force us to treat everyone equally.
-
Lol... the government shouldn't have to "force" us to treat everyone equally, that should be an inherent trait within us.
