this is a beautiful article! Lack of language exposure is language deprivation. Deaf children need ASL from birth & it is a family journey!

Good! Too many hearing parents force speech on their Deaf kids! Would parents deny their quadraplegic kid a wheelchair? No? Ok then!

To learn ASL, go for resources made by Deaf people. The ASL App is made by a Deaf team, teaches conversational ASL - great way to start!

If a deaf supporter of Trump was to give a speech at Berkeley, will they accuse them for 'hate signing' and have them banned as well?

I understand your reason for saying this, though I think that politics may taint the inspiration of this story. But your statement is valid.

Agree-however I feel that the more the public point to the hypocrisy and the censorship that is happening to free speech the better.

I can agree with that, though I might suggest complimenting the story, then make the connection. It may draw more desired attention.

Probably true but complimenting NYT is akin to telling a compulsive manipulative liar that they have nice shoes.
