History still survives in textbooks and on the internet. You don't need a commemorative statue to learn history
-
Textbooks and the internet can be modified and manipulated.
-
Yes any information can be manipulated. But the point of the statue is to commemorate the confederacy not teach history

Does Germany need statues to remember the Nazis and Hitler? No. They learn about it in history class
-
But then, Auschwitz is a museum. Should it be destroyed too?
-
Auschwitz isn't there to celebrate the holocaust, its meant to teach history. If confederate statues were in museums, they'd be fine

Ridiculous we need to teach our history
-
Yes we do, and that can be done without putting a traitor on a pedastal.
-
It's a bad decision history can be good bad & indifferent but All most history needs 2be taught This is a historical town &it's Stupidity
-
History can be taught without honoring traitors. Statue was erected early 1900s, not in years following or during the Civil War.
