Enrollment is up at JUCOs, but it isn't causing 4-year institutions to lower tuition fees, which is the real issue.

Tennessee has something called Hope Scholarships for in-state students graduating HS with a B+ average. (1/2)
-
I'm aware. I had the HOPE Scholarship. My tuition fees were still astronomical, as they are all over the country.
-
Congrats on the scholarship, but yes in-state tuition rose around 3 to 7 percent on average over the last decade for TN schools.
-
Sounds pretty standard compared to other states. Tuition tends to go up about 2-3% every year in my experience.

Actually, these programs are funded by state lottery revenue. Here most CC students earn degrees in healthcare not transfer programs. 1/2

Folks from all over the world strive to be accepted into elite US universities. Your argument continues to have logic gaps.

TN does a great job of allowing kids who would otherwise not attend college to do so, we all pay a much higher price for ignorance

LOL.. A Republican state.. No way.. LOL With surplus budget.. While NY is in debt.. Nothing is free, but this is a good use of surplus funds
-
Actually, these programs are funded with lottery revenue. For last three decades, both Dem and Rep TN governors have been fiscally strong.
-
Yes true. That's because TN has less populace so less can do more (great!). NYs school budget is so big it's lotto take is a tiny 1-2% ish..
-
Yes. State population/budget differences must be factored into equation. TN lottery revenue is used for both K-12 and post-secondary. Lucky
-
BTW. Off topic.. I moved to TN recently from NY/North Jersey. Schools here are inviting.... air conditioned. I feel like I suffered LOL
-
Nice! My husband is from Hackensack. Still mourns that he can't walk to the corner deli.

-
Yeah I had to learn how to make a proper bagel and make my own sundried tomato cream cheese LOL
