That's unfair to the children. They have no control over what their parents can or cannot pay.

The kids in my 4th grade class would share our lunches with a girl whose mother couldn't provide her with money or lunch money.

Teachers see this everyday. Too many of our children come to school hungry. For many "school lunches" are the mainstay of their nutrition😔

She was always so grateful to just eat half a sandwich. It broke my heart then and now because I've never felt that way about a sandwich.

I had a HS boy that never got anything more to eat in a day than what he ate a school. He always wanted more milk. I got it for him.

It's surprising how many people don't want kids to learn or eat.

If the students don't eat the food it is thrown away. Waste of money. Just feed the kids !!

I believe the point is that they do not have food security at home, either. Not a matter of just making a lunch if there's no food.

That's just wrong. If you are poor, you get food stamps. In fact, there's an obesity crisis among the poor. Many parents are just lazy today

Do you think you could feed yourself for $125.51 a month? I don't think most people can even comprehend that kind of poverty.

When you are dirt poor, survival is a full time job. When you have nothing, 2 dollars is a fortune. Food insecurity can be insurmountable.
