The Met has a “suggested” entrance fee that many don’t pay. Could that change?http://nyti.ms/2oMcX1q

The contract the MET signed to own the land they're on specifically states it must b free.the proximity to evrything made it priceless land

The Met is also on PUBLIC PARK LAND. Why, I believe, free entrance was mandated.

...thereby making Art available for the rich only ! Continuing the pattern of bad decision-making that created the so-called deficit.

You've been very generous for a long time, MET. I'd accept any amount of entrance fee.

Antidemocratic & shameful. The open to all ethos of DiBlasio for schools/college ends when plutocratic board involved.

Idea: Residents and tourists all pay with metro card. Everyone has one, low price, wd raise about 15 million/yr.

Much smaller museums with smaller endowments use the "suggest donation" policy. What's your excuse, Met?

In the late 50s, early 60s, my friends and I would walk six blocks to the Met and entered for free. We loved the exhibits. Keep it free.

YES! People should pay to see the collections and exhibitions. Museum funding is something audiences should understand. @metmuseum

No mention of how The Met participates in membership reciprocity with other art museums & is already part of idNYC. https://www1.nyc.gov/site/idnyc/benefits/museums-and-cultural-institutions.page …

Met should definitely charge visitors for an enacting admission fee ASAP! I think it's so hard to thrive w/o increasing the deficit.
