Maybe we are learning from our mistakes and addressing the problem differently. Why are you guys making this about race??

4 a disproportionate number of blacks the answer is still prison. Online commenters aren't the ones making things about race.
-
The NY Times is making this about race by posting this. This is a health epidemic. I don't agree with imprisoning people for drugs
-
Race and racial disparity is a thing. Don't know why the Times not ignoring that is a problem. Agree with you on the rest!
-
My point is I don't think they changed the solution because it's a "white" problem. They are changing it because it's ineffective
-
That seems naive to me. Have you seen
@13THFilm? Explains the shady racial history of our justice system pretty well.

@brokeneisenglas It's still prison- especially for dealers. -
it is; I remember being in life and wellness in school and thinking this
-
Crack was poison in the black community. People act like it was mere users going in. I remember a documentary wherein ->
-
it was claimed that crack sales employed more people in that community than any other single industry. Dealers of that->
-
kind of poison are scum, whatever their motives. They are worse than thieves, since thieves leave people untouched.
-
I'm very hard on the dealers of hard drugs. They know exactly what they help people do to themselves and their families.

That is our shame.
-
Oh please, the Congressional Black Caucus wanted tough laws for crack because it was destroying so many blacks.

Because blacks are disproportionately poor and victims of police abuse/profiling.
