back in the day you had to make choices- ex. buy cigarettes or buy milk. What happened to personal responsibility?

.
@evansmama7@nytimes how much personal responsibility do people need to save to cover a c-section (can cost > $50,000 in us) -
To make a commodity cheaper & better you need profit incentive & freedom of labor gov destroys both by regulating
-
health care does not work like a commodity because people cannot choose which diseases they have or their biology.
-
treating health care as a commodity is why we have insulin costing 100x more in US than the U.K.

The point is many Americans invest in iPhones and such instead of more important matters
-
The last time that I checked I could get
for approx $25/month. Where can I get complete healthcare for that price? -
I don't think these two things should even be compared. Are you assuming healthcare is not an important matter?
-
Exactly why
@jasoninthehouse never should have made the comparison. Show me where insurance is that cheap? -
It is obviously not
-
Right, my point

@nytimes HC is expensive, whether covered by insurance or not. That is why a mandate IS NECESSARY; everyone has financial responsibility. -
HC is expensive specifically because it is not a free market and there is no competitive pricing.
-
definitely a major factor. But not the only one.
