It's all security theatre, creating an illusion of safety. Pencil or pistol: with focused intent & enough hate, anything is lethal.

Really? No one worried about guns just because they were checked? What if the safety was off and bullet accidentally discharged?
-
Guns are required to be unloaded and locked in a hard sided case. They don't just go off on their own, BTW.

They need to ban firearms from airports entirely.

Guns in checked bags- a perfect way to get a gun into an airport. I'm surprised it hasn't happened previously.
-
Have you flown recently? The baggage claim area is unsecured and open to anyone.

A simple solution would be to prohibit ammo, which is easily purchased at destination.
-
Simpler yet: ban ppl w/guns claiming voices in head are making him watch IS vids...

what should be a concern is that any person with documented health problems has a gun in the first place! The hell does that work?

I'm all for gun control, but someone could just as easily walk into baggage claim with a gun. Issue isn't guns in checked bags.
-
Then have supervised weapon collection points outside terminals.
-
You've missed the point. If I'm a gun owner, I can walk into baggage claim in any airport in the world. No security. Just chance.
-
Not in Australia mate. You carry your gun here and you will most likely look at Gaol time. The NRA run the USA- not Trump.
-
Well, I was speaking of the USA. Would you like to discuss gun laws in Hondorus? Bolivia?

He is a mentally ill ex-National Guard who was hearing voices.

Thank you for your input on the story, "political analyst" Joseph.
-
that's the problem. You're making this into politics. It's an act of terrorism claimed to be for ISIS.
-
? I was referring to Joseph as what he claims to be in his Twitter bio.
