        A debt is an incurred responsibility, not an assault on an innocent victim. Responsible party or estate should continue to pay.

        You appear confused. "The economy" has naught to do with the loan: it's a contract between lender and borrower.

        so student loans should only be in the students name, no cosigner. if the student dies, he won't be needing the degree anyway DUH

        @tulipgrrl there should also be offered an insurance benefit that kicks in when the borrower dies or becomes significantly disabled
