The Affordable Care Act's expansion of Medicaid and its offer of subsidized health plans have provided a new safety net for those who have lost their jobs and their health insurance during the pandemic recession.https://nyti.ms/3htkYon

While people like to push this narrative it isn't true. Even without shutdowns, customer traffic in person is way down. Because spoiler, people care about their safety and others. Many high earners aren't going out in person; ie I purchase almost exclusively online rn.

Tying your health insurance to your job is basically a form of slavery.

I'd take it a step further, tying all requirements to live: health, food, and shelter, to a job is slavery. This is why a robust welfare system would be universal, giving people more bargaining power for their labor and building up instead of hoping to be caught by a safety net.

Yes, a safety net that has holes big enough to just decapitate you. Only $800 a month! How afforable!

FYI, it's Marco Rubio and the @GOP who had weakened risk corridor provisions.https://www.usnews.com/opinion/policy-dose/articles/2017-05-30/republicans-raised-your-health-care-premiums-not-obamacare …
