They were slaves when they got into the boat in Africa. It was at the destination point, America, where they were freed. Look at, who keeps rattling the chains, for a clue about who will not let them go.

I don't get how this is still up for debate. Europe and the USA are rich ONLY because of slavery. Our wealth was built on the backs of unpaid labour.
