Each year, South Korea has sent hundreds of young men, most of them Jehovah’s Witnesses, to prison for refusing to serve in the military. Its top court says the practice should stop.https://nyti.ms/2QbobdV

What has a faith to do with military? what is this Jehovah witness? Martin Luther has torn Christianity into shreds. Why open a new issue? These Jehovah people should know that Bible is full of Wars.

As someone who grew up in the religion (no longer follow or practice tho), I’m glad that they can fully practice their religion without persecution!

Yep! Ex JW ARMY. Actually, I can see why BTS' music would appeal to us. Ahhhhh, so happy about this decision though. No-one should be forced into the armed forces against their conscience.

I’m touched beyond words. This verdict is so much bigger than any one person. It’s going to change the lives of so many people who were imprisoned and persecuted for their religious beliefs.

Okay dont jail them but aren't there non combat things to train them to do? If you cant support the military for any reason, then he cant have an income, if he did he would have to pay taxes that go to military funding.

ehhh, they have a relatively small population and they’re still technically at war with north korea, just at ceasefire rn. considering how nk has mandatory service, it’s probably a p scary idea to make military service voluntary in south korea.

Yeah some what but the main issue is everyone's always at War it seems. I was told I was going to Afghanistan after 9/11 but ended up in Kyrgyzstan guarding a field of marijuana so that the u.s. can load it onto c-130s

9/11 happened when I was in 8th grade & the recruiting started in freshman year of HS. What is trippy to me to think about, is in 2020 there'll be a generation of new voters at the polls who have never NOT known the country to be at war. 😳🤔& I have NO IDEA what they think of it
