Derrick Rose scored a career-high 50 points, turning back the clock to his prime years. The 30-year-old point guard was in tears as he walked off the court after the game, serenaded by chants of “MVP! MVP!”https://nyti.ms/2Q5jORo

It's not serious suggestion that he be MVP. It's an acknowledgment of a great performance after everything he's been through as a player.

Rose has struggled with significant knee injuries since his 2010–11 MVP campaign. In the first round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers, Rose tore his ACL in his left knee. Rose required surgery and was subsequently sidelined for the entire 2012–13 season

It's been such an emotional career ride for him and as a fan I'm so glad he's gradually getting back to his prime time. This is definitely motivating and inspirational for others to realize that patience and grit will pay off. #stratcomm4337
