Many high schools are struggling to field football teams. The reason? Concerns about concussions.https://nyti.ms/2Dbu9bS

agreed. Most parents I know don't want their kids playing football. I worry about areas that have less access to this information, though.

The south, Appalachia I was visiting my girlfriend in Ho Ho Kus NJ. When cops in Virginia requested a SWAT Team in NJ be sent to apprehend me for a #SwatTeamWellnessCheck stating I was armed threatening to kill & headed for a school! I founded a nonprofit after the VT shootings!

Football is dangerous!! I think most r so wanting to get a few yrs under their belt to make great money with plans to retire early, but it is too great a risk of ur lifetime health being sacrificed

I sacrificed my youth, my now, and my future. It truly is awful! I was hoping to do just that cash in and get out. But stage 2 CTE symptoms in college derailed my life. Homeless by 24, 8 times total thus far. Ups and downs I’m blessed to have to faculties I have. #LivingWithCTE

Yeah, well a High School in Texas just spent $70 MILLION on stadium. "This is about our kids and the future of McKinney ISD," The Superintendent said. Okay, but what about the 99% of students who don't play football?

Maybe there is some hope amoung all the anti vaxer parents after all. Maybe they do believe in science, just a little.

How do you get from one to the other? Also, "believe in science" is a profoundly assignorant thing to say. You clearly don't understand even the most basic things about what science is. It's not not magic, and there aren't any priests. Never were. Study some history.

There's a lot you can learn on a football field that you cannot learn in a classroom.

Such as? I’m not saying don’t let kids play football. I’m arguing that it shouldn’t be the schools fielding the teams. There are plenty of non-school soccer leagues, why not let football do the same?

You mean kid kids? Like kids? Many kids' football leagues are not school affiliated. Elementary schools don't have their own football teams. Older kids that play soccer generally play for a school. I don't think there are that many high-school age independent soccer leagues in US

I don’t believe schools should be in the business of fielding sports teams. They should be focusing on academics.

Many public schools have already cut art and music to the bone. But there’s always money for football, it seems.
