It took 24 years, but a woman who was raped in a Brooklyn park and then maligned by police officials and a columnist who doubted her story has finally received a formal apologyhttps://nyti.ms/2D9PCSk

An apology?? Big deal. She should sue the city and anyone else involved. Repercussions tend to deter crime.

Doesn't that happen most of time to women? Their stories are never believed because phallocentrism is at work around the clock.

There needs to be more than apologies. People are sick and tired of the apologies.

It's going to take more than a letter from Mr. O’Neill’, and other police departments across the country to "reflect a cultural shift in attitudes toward victims of sexual assault and harassment."

Can't win. If they catch the perpetrators, who all confess, and convict them, then they're racist oppressors. (see: Central Park Five) If they show an appropriate amount of skepticism about the report, then they're sexist and disinterested in safety.

The apology is more than Trump did against the "Central Park 5", or the very begrudging one he made about Obama's birth place or that he saw Muslims dancing in New Jersey on 9/11. Unfortunately, it took 24 years, but Trump will NEVER apologize
