For years, the family of mail bombing suspect Cesar Sayoc had urged him to get help for what they believed were mental health issues. They made their latest plea by a handwritten card sent to him in jail.https://nyti.ms/2D72tox

And here we go with the all-out propaganda campaign to transform the white terrorist into just another guy with mental issues.

Mental health issues? Rush Limbaugh told his radio audience that Sayoc "sounds like a well educated, straight down the middle conservative."https://www.mediamatters.org/video/2018/10/26/rush-limbaugh-reacts-arrest-bomber-pushing-conspiracy-theory-stickers-van-don-t-appear-faded/221877 …

I really don’t want to hear about him having mental issues as a get out of jail free card or to serve less time card! He was smart enough to build bombs and mail them out! Mass bombers and murderers shouldn’t get a pass! They were all smart enough to do the crime! Period!

This article is not about him getting a “pass” with a mental health plea. It was about our failure as a nation to treat mentally ill people before they become crazy conspiracy lunatics that send mail bombs to people.

His family is now saying he suffered from mental illness! They put him out instead of getting him help! His record is long and speaks for itself! He should be charged accordingly is what I’m saying! Period

Stop with the mental illness excuse. I have family members who suffer from mental illness and none of them would do something like this. It’s an excuse to turn away from the real reasons: guns and deep-seated hate.

Mental illness is not a character flaw. It’s a treatable illness. If you fear someone may harm themselves or another, but they do not let you help them, you need to report them. They may be too ill to make good choices. You would report a driver you suspect is drunk, right?

Mental illness is the only escape that the far-right still uses to justify their crimes and get reduced sentences.

Good for his family for trying to get him to help himself but what do we do about people who are clearly mentally ill and need help but refuse to get it. Pleading with some one who isn't in their right mind most likely won't work, so what's the alternative?
