Armed with an AR-15-style assault rifle and at least 3 handguns, a man shouting anti-Semitic slurs opened fire inside a crowded Pittsburgh synagogue, killing at least 11 congregants and wounding 4 police officers and 2 others, the authorities saidhttps://nyti.ms/2O7lfgs

Back in Feb. 2018, @cjchivers, a former Marine infantry officer and NYT reporter, explained how an AR-15-style rifle allows a shooter to fire upon people in much the same way that many American soldiers and Marines would fire M16 and M4 rifles in combathttps://nyti.ms/2Sp4z7u

Ya I don’t think you need an AR 15 for anything good. They should be banned!

There is no difference between an AR-15 an a hunting rifle other then the way it’s shaped. It is just a .223 it has very little stopping power and when used for hunting is only good for small game.

Serious question: If there is no difference, why is anyone opposed to banning the “scary looking” version? Like if they banned red solo cups, blue ones work just as well?

One of the reasons is there needs to be a firm line drawn in the sand. People’s logic is if they give in on the AR-15 then next it will be all semiautomatic weapons . Once the line is moved then it is always open for interpretation

I understood the rifle to be a high-powered semi-automatical weapon (AK-Style). I assume this to mean 7.62mm (M-60/SAW equivalent weapon) - not 5.56mm (AR-15/ M-16 equivalent weapon). Regardless, all of the above are tools of war - not needed to hunt or protect one house.

It is insane that anybody in the US can buy these rifles. It's insane that Congress is paid by arms dealers to keep the US open to shooting for the economic gains of a few companies. It's insane that millions of Americans are brain washed and believe they need these rifles.

For not being armed, that’s the way I heard it, implying that they “needed” to be. I don’t like what he said 💔

I don’t listen to Trump anymore. I can’t believe anyone does. I will never understand how we have allowed this to go on. I can’t believe he can happen in America. So, no I’m not listening, not to him, not to Pence, not any Republican. They were silent too long.

Fair enough, but then you should acknowledge that you don't know what he said when you by own admission not listen to him anymore.

Yes, I have heard enough. I listened to him speak enough, gave him plenty of chances. He seeks to end what is beautiful about this country. I’m done listening. He does not represent me, nor my American ideals.
