Lavender has purported healing powers for reducing stress and anxiety. There may actually be some science to support it.https://nyti.ms/2EKngQ9

It always makes me laugh when people start looking at the science of "aromatherapy"... As if no one has ever experienced a change in emotion evoked by a fragrance. Aromatics are chemicals, humans respond to chemicals... Science already supports this.

I found a mix for lavender sugar cookies several years ago. Yum!! Now I’m growing lavender to try to replicate it.

Don’t need science. Has been know for 100 of years. Grandma passed down to us for cures for everything from stress to skin problems. And of course grandma really smelt good, burned into my memory as a child.

Uh...no, that's not how the world works. People also said we "didn't need science" to confirm that the Earth was the center of the universe. Turns out that was wrong because anecdotes and hunches are not explanations. Science offers the latter. Grandmas offer the former.

don't get me wrong, I am an advocate of science and definitely not a science denier. But when it comes to grandma's recipes I don't need science to analyze, prod and poke to know it works as proven by generations of test on willing family members. Let's call it family science.

Both of you are on the same side. Generations of cultural evidence is citizen science... science without the rigor or codifying. But it's evidence of safety and value.
