        They have every right to request asylum, and to do so they must be on U.S. soil. The way to change that is to change the law, and Republicans are currently in control.

        The law currently says that they are allowed to request asylum, and that they need to be on U.S. soil to do that. That's the law as it stands for better or worse as long as they come in through a proper port of entry.

        They can apply for asylum at the consulates in Honduras, El Salvador, etc. they don’t even have to step into Mexico.
