Great way for every officer to be accountable for their actions and think before reacting. Hope it works well and serves as a model for other states

Yes!!!! A step in the right direction. No one should operate anonymously when in uniform and dealing with citizens of the USA. They have gone rouge on many occasions and in many locations, this is a great start to public accountability. Thank you

We need to get these delinquent police officers off our nation's streets and in to schools, jobs, or training programs where they can turn their lives around.

I want to know how Gotham's police force will actually carry this out...I'll bet some internet business card printing service just got a handful of orders with names like 'Officer Pudintame' and fake badge numbers on them.

Why? To be accountable is not a breach of duty

Handing out a business card so that people know who they've dealt with is too much to ask of armed agents of the state?

And if the officer refuses?
-
Take his badge number and ask for his or her name, phones come to mind next
-
And if they refuse to provide their badge number or name? Why not just require them to interact with the public the way all professionals do, and provide their information as a matter of course?
