With its monumental carving of Southern Civil War leaders, Stone Mountain looms literally and figuratively over a Georgia with an increasingly diverse population and political landscapehttps://nyti.ms/2ECFz9Y

It's history. Stop deleting history unless you are ready to have MLK, Lincoln, Grant etc erased also. It's all relevant, all history is.

The real racists are in NY and CA. The media perpetuates narratives they think are one size fits all for the nation.

Today, @nytimes published another story on the Proud Boys referring to the group as a “fraternal organization.” The Proud Boys are a violent white nationalist gang of criminals. Their leader Gavin McInnes admits this openly. Bad reporting yet again. pic.twitter.com/LRkGxYGCmb

So you'll persuade the diverse population to mutilate stone mountain and replace the carving with a carving of Obama , Hillary and cory booker.

Since trump came onto the political scene a dark cloud began. Since he took office the dark cloud has engulfed our nation and has taken over the entire embodiment of what we are and stand for around the globe. Please vote Democrat and put a check on this loose cannon. PLEASE

Yes, rescue us from this dark cloud of historically low unemployment, explosive GDP growth and lower taxes. Preserve us from the man who put gays in the state department and women in positions of power. SAVE US!

Right. Obama meant to keep gdp at 2% his eight years in office just to tee up the next guy to look good. I don’t think I’m the one not keeping up with facts.

At some point these things become important as works of art and engineering independent of their political context. Fascist and Communist monuments are gone from Europe, but works like the Berlin Olympic Stadium remain and are given context.

A solution I liked was to create a monumental reference to the part in MLK’s “I have a dream” speech where he dreams of freedom ringing from Stone Mountain among other sites. The MLK monument would create a sense of triumph over the message of the Confederate carving.

You’re forgetting one very important item. Minorities in the south are very religious. Jesus. He has healed all and will heal all. Don’t worry. Even leftists find healing in Christ.
