        No doubt he was a drug runner and warlord. There have been many stories regarding his crimes. But he would also carry briefcases full of cash to the widows of his men killed in action and ensure they were financially stable.

        Raziq was one of the last major afghan warlords propped up by the US government. His death can’t be understated and so much American media ignores that fact. He was much more powerful than the sitting president. Many troops in the south were loyal to him only.pic.twitter.com/fHFQQoqzKv

        The comments on the article are instructive: imploring the U.S. to get out, decrying the savages who have been "slaughtering each other for a 1000 years," lamenting how the U.S. has failed to make a difference in its noble endeavor. The imperial mind-set is difficult to overcome.
