Not everyone is happy about the royal visit. A big sticking point: Australian taxpayers pay the cost of trips made by members of the royal family.https://nyti.ms/2yH8WBN

They are actually here for the Invictus Games that celebrates the athleticism and resilience of injured and maimed servicemen and women. As patron Harry attends the hosting country every year.

if he is so philanthropical and concerned...he should have paid from his pocket for all the expenses...instead he & his family is still looting...

Oh please 🙄 the country pays for any head of state visit. Regardless of the country. It’s beneficial for Australia to be seen on the world stage. The coverage of the Royal Tour is being followed world wide.

coverage?...it's for them...not for Australia...true that heads are being paid for their visit...only when there is a quid pro quo...say trade...here he is visiting only because he is regarded as commonwealth heads representative to loot.....

Canadians are much more deferential to the monarchy than Aussies — it reinforces their fragile conviction that they are not Americans.

To my commonwealth brothers - stop being so petty. We live in a constitutional monarchy where royal visits are a perk and the costs incurred are minimal.

Exactly. Obama's one-night G-20 stay in Brisbane cost the taxpayer $1.7 million dollars but you never hear anyone talking about that.

The U.K. paid millions for Security during Donald Trumps visit. This is the way things work when foreign ambassadors or dignitaries turn up anywhere

Doen't being a commonwealth member of the U.K. mean Australians chip in on everything the royals do? Actual question, for anyone who knows

No. The Royal Family is maintained by arrangement with the U.K. government. The commonwealth pays nothing.
